SOUNDTRACK AWARD 2018

San Esteban Palace, seat of the Presidency and Governing Council of the Region of Murcia, was the setting for the presentation of the winner of the second edition of the Juan Gil International Soundtrack Award Composition.

The 32-year-old Georgian composer Ana Kasrashvili showed her emotion, joy and gratitude, saying that she was proud to be the winner of the second edition of this contest, especially since she was a finalist in the first edition in 2016.

The applicants —musicians of any nationality between the ages of 18 and 35— had to create a soundtrack for the short film Esencia, directed by José Mellado and written by Tessy Díez specifically for the competition. The film stars Jon Arias, with the intervention of Rafael Sandoval and Mariela Garriga, and the collaboration of Armando del Río and lmanol Arias.

Patrick Doyle, a Scottish film composer recognized worldwide for soundtracks such as Henry V, Sense and Sensibility, Hamlet, Bridget Jones's Diary, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire or Brave and twice nominated for an Oscar, was the President of the jury. Doyle highlighted the subtlety, elegance and great instincts of the cinematographic structure and in the musical treatment of the story of the soundtrack created by Ana Kasrashvili, entitled The True Treasure
