Patrick Doyle chairs the jury of the II Juan Gil International Soundtrack Competition

The Scottish composer Patrick Doyle will preside the jury of the 2nd Gil Family Estates International Soundtrack Composition Prize, which will also include Roque Baños, Lucio Godoy, Constantino Martínez-Orts and Juan Gil, the latter representing the competition organiser. Patrick Doyle is a world-renowned Scottish film composer.

Some of his most famous works include the soundtracks for films such as Henry V, Indochine, Carlito’s Way, Sense and Sensibility, Hamlet, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Gosford Park, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Eragon, Thor, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Brave, Cinderella and Murder on the Orient Express. Doyle has been nominated for two Academy Awards, two César Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.


In 2013, he received the ASCAP Henry Mancini Award and in 2015 the Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Soundtrack Academy Roque Baños, Lucio Godoy and Constantino Martínez-Orts make up the rest of the jury, together with Juan Gil, who represents the competition organiser. It is the biggest prize for film scores in the world, with 50,000 euros to a single winner.


Composers of any nationality aged between 18 and 35 must provide a soundtrack to the short film made especially for the competition called “ESSENCE”.
